Events in and around Gunnedah

As the seasons change in Gunnedah, locals and visitors alike have plenty of fun and exciting events to look forward to. From music and arts festivals to agricultural shows and sporting events, there is always something happening in and around this beautiful region of New South Wales.

Springtime in Gunnedah sees the return of the annual Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards, which celebrates the life and work of one of Australia's most famous poets. For those who love nature, springtime is also the perfect time to explore the region's many outdoor attractions, including the Warrabungle National Park and the Namoi River. The park offers a range of walking and hiking trails, as well as stunning views of the night sky that are second to none. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, swimming, and kayaking on the Namoi River, which winds its way through the heart of Gunnedah. As the weather heats up and summer approaches, Gunnedah comes alive with a range of music festivals and outdoor events. The Country Muster Festival is a particular favourite, with country music fans from all over Australia flocking to Gunnedah to enjoy three days of live music, camping, and good old-fashioned country hospitality. Sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to keep them busy in summer, with a range of local tournaments and events taking place throughout the season. The Gunnedah Rugby 7s and the Gunnedah Netball Carnival are two of the most popular, attracting teams from all over the region to compete for glory. Autumn in Gunnedah is a time for reflection and remembrance, with the annual ANZAC Day march and service attracting thousands of locals and visitors each year. As winter sets in, Gunnedah welcomes a range of indoor events and festivals to keep locals and visitors warm and entertained. The Gunnedah Eisteddfod is a particular highlight, offering a range of performance categories for young and old alike.
